What We Offer

FDOR offers assistance with various categories of registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). This is a very important part of the process all foreign doctors have to undergo. Working in South Africa for all foreign doctors including local doctors, a go ahead by the regulator of the health profession is very critical.

We offer assistance with endorsement with the Foreign Workforce Management Programme (FWMP) under the Department of Health. 

All foreign qualified doctors that want to work or study in South Africa have to be endorsed by the FWMP.

HPCSA Categories we offer registration assistance in:
    • Volunteer – Any medical doctor can be registered to come volunteer in any government hospital in a non-paying post. Most hospitals offer accommodation in this category.
    • Medical Officer – A doctor is able to register with the HPCSA and get a job offer with any government hospital where they will also earn a salary.
    • Exam – Doctors that qualified from universities that are not exempted from writing the board exam will fall under this category. We will assist with applying for exam endorsement letter and also to submit an exam application with the HPCSA.
    • Post Exam – After passing the board exam, doctors will be required to submit another application for registration in the category determined by the exam board. We can assist with getting the relevant endorsement letter and registration as well.
    • Postgraduate Studies – Qualified medical doctors who would like to come further their studies in South African. We can assist in obtaining a relevant endorsement letter and compile an application for registration with  HPCSA.
    • FWMP – Endorsement Letter – All Foreign qualifies Doctors wanting to register with the HPCSA and don’t have Permanent Residence or South African ID have to be endorsed by FWMP.
    • Endorsement Letter Renewal – All endorsement letters have a six months lifespan. A doctor has to register with the HPCSA within six months of obtaining the endorsement letter. Failure to do so a doctor will need to apply for a renewal.
    • Independent Practice Once you have worked 5 years in the public sector and have a Permanent Residence, we can assist with changing your category to Independent Practice.
    • Specialist Registration – After you are registered as Medical Officer and have Specialist qualifications from your country or the country/university your qualified from, we will assist with changing your category to Specialist in the public sector.
